“Dance on Gypsy Queen. If it’s all night, it’s alright.” Those opening lines from the 1970 Van Morrison song, embody the sensation of Zuhair Murad’s fall/winter 2016-17 haute couture collection. Called “Boho Rapture,” it sparkled with the flowing grace of a gypsy queen.
This collection is bold, beautiful, and travels the path of the stylish hippie. Its coloration varies from green to blue to black to red, all vibrant and rich. The strong nomadic woman envisioned by Muhad wears Chantilly lace, ostrich feathers, and intricate beading. Styles fluctuate between petticoats, peasant smocks, sarouel pants, and gypsy shawls.
Muhad’s bohemian woman is sensuous with pinched waists, swooping backs, sheer moments, and dazzling trains. She regally walks tall and independent with broad brimmed hats or dog-collar chokers. She is the global gypsy queen, dancing all night and sparkling brighter than the stars.
