Sparkling fireworks were the clear inspiration for Zuhair Murad‘s spring/summer 2017 couture collection. The idea for this season’s slew of gowns, slip dresses, and smart suits was sparked on a trip to the island of Miyajima in Japan by the house’s founder and artistic director, Murad. Embroidered Swarovski crystals, soi perlée, and bright beads mimic the lit-up sky while jade taffeta, draped silk navy, and bouffant sleeves reference island waves with a contemporary eighties edge.
