Musicians Anthony Kiedis and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers are hosting a private benefit tonight in Los Angeles to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. It is slated to be a music an art-filled evening, with performances from John Legend, Kamasi Washington, and a the hosts of the evening, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Gagosian‘s Deborah McCleod, Dana Louise Kirkpatrick, and Flea curated a silent auction of 50 works donated by artists like Jeff Koons, Urs Fischer, Richard Prince, Damien Hirst, Piero Golia, Richard Serra, Thomas Houseago, Sterling Ruby, Ed Ruscha, and Kenny Scharf.
Said Flea, “Shepherding a non-profit music school for the last 14 years has taken an enormous amount of time, energy, and patience. Having the help from our contemporaries each year at our annual fundraiser has been hugely comforting and enables us to give thousands of kids a quality music education. I am so grateful for the assistance we are getting this year from the visual artists…as well as performing musicians…This promises to be a beautiful evening of music.”
