Last week, Acne Studios celebrated the reopening of its boutique in New York’s Soho neighborhood, following its recent reimagining and expansion. Inaugurating the refreshed storefront, which opened to the public on Friday, the maison hosted an intimate party the evening before, where friends of the brand were invited to join CEO Matthias Magnusson for a night of music, cocktails, and an elegant meal by candlelight.

Following Acne’s retail ethos, which sees each physical location embarking on its own exploration of its visual language, the retail space located at 33 Greene Street invited Arquitectura-G to realize its renovations. The Barcelona-based design studio’s concept for the more than 2,000 square feet boutique focused on a calming, uniform atmosphere that allows the latest designs to shine without distraction.
Those peering through the large-windowed façade might only catch a glimpse of a sea of white, but paying a visit indoors proves that no detail was forgotten. Covering the floor is 100-percent tufted wool carpeting from Swedish textile brand Kasthall. The space’s graphic layout features tall, Roman columns, sharply edged display surfaces, and a series of triangular fitting rooms. And on the ceiling, designer Benoit Lalloz has outfitted the space with minimalistic lighting fixtures made to follow the original architecture and highlight the industrial style synonymous with the neighborhood’s historic buildings.
