Swiss watchmakers Romain Jerome have turned their attention to the fine art of tattooing this month. The result? An avant-garde timepiece born out of a collaboration with Mo Copoletta, world-renowned tattoo artist and owner of The Family Business tattoo studio in London.
Romain Jerome and Copoletta, an avid watch collector himself, drew inspiration from the seven seas to create the Tattoo-DNA collection: an ode to the legend of the “sailors grave.” The unlikely collaborators sifted through scores of tattoo motifs symbolizing the most imaginative of maritime superstitions to adorn skin-colored leather wrist straps, tattooed by Copoletta himself. There is also a second option of a black fabric strap for those who favor a sleeker look.
The multi-layered silver dial of each model depicts an anchor accompanied by bolts of lightening in pops of red and yellow, while the 50 mm case is detailed with a black PVD-engraved bezel. The range of models, each limited to an edition of 25, have capabilities to reach depths of 30 meters underwater, making it a timepiece fit for even the most intrepid sailor.
