To help you get the most out of your Milan Design Week experience, we’re asking leading art, culture, and lifestyle experts to share how they enjoy Milan. Here, we spoke with art insiders Alberto Biagetti and Laura Baldassari, Founders of Atelier Biagetti.
“We draw our inspiration from the world around us, and Milan is an amazing city, full of variety and food for thought. We don’t find the constant vibrations of the city a distraction. Instead, they help us channel our thoughts and heighten our senses like a mantra of Zen meditation. In every nook and cranny, Milan hides details, gems just waiting to be discovered. Cimitero Monumentale is a veritable open-air sculpture park that pays tribute to the past lives of Milan with a density of artworks that is comparable to the Uffizi in Florence. If you take a flight from Malpensa, you can walk on floors and sit at desks designed by Ettore Sottsass. If you sneak a peek into some of the doorways of Milan’s palazzos, you can discover the work of some of Italy’s greatest creative minds, like Gio Ponti or Caccia Dominioni. Milan is an amazing city—you just need to keep your eyes open.”
