It’s the week of Art Basel Hong Kong! That means fairs, gallery shows, museum exhibitions, and plenty of events – all taking place here in Hong Kong. We are here to guide you through the must-see and be-seen-at spots around town. All week-long we’ll bring you “Insider Tips” from those in-the-know on what to see, do, eat, and drink. Next up, blogger Kevin Poon.
I am obsessed with sushi. I recommend sushi gin, please ask for chef Do, tell him KP sent you. For Italian I love Carbone, don’t’ forget to get the meatballs and vodka rigatoni. Lots of new restaurants open all the time, Le Garcon Saigon if you are craving Vietnamese, and for happy hour, I like the cigar bar in central, China club if you are a first time visitor, Seeva if you have never been, am I giving away all my spots? For drinks, I love dragon-I and fly, those are my go-to spots!
The Peak is fun if you are sightseeing, Temple street if you want to catch the vibe, The Big Buddha if you have more free time to see the energy to fields behind the Buddha, otherwise I recommend shopping—Central, Gough street, Sheng wan, Wanchai around Star street are all cool shopping spots.
Usually Art Central is really happening, you don’t want to miss the smaller gallery shows around central and Wong Chuk Hang and Chai Wan, and also the special invite only dinners and parties. Most of the cool #TopArtSpot’s will be revealed closer to the date, follow my Instagram @kpee for the inside scoop or @socialcapital for guest list.
I would definitely recommend coffee from Elephant Grounds Coffee ask your server about the ice cream sandwich of the week, Egg Tarts are pretty amazing, DimSum you have to try. That’s all that I can think of.
