Artist Plates Project Raises Funds for Coalition for the Homeless

A collectible piece of art for a good cause, the plates are being released just in time for the holiday gifting season, priced at $175 apiece—an amount which provides meals for 75 hungry New Yorkers. Each plate bears an artwork on the top, edition details on the bottom, and is limited to 175 pieces.

The initiative features contributions like an untitled work by Nina Chanel Abney; Cascade from Loie Hollowell; and a plate bearing Katherine Bernhardt’s Cosme. Other participating artists include names like Vik Muniz, Derrick Adams, Marilyn Minter, Ed Ruscha, Kenny Scharf, Maurizio Cattelan, Jenny Holzer, Julian Opie, Lorna Simpson, Carmen Herrera, Sterling Ruby, Rashid Johnson, and Sarah Sze.

While the Coalition for the Homeless has been working on solutions and strategies against mass homelessness since 1981, its mission has become especially essential since the onset of the pandemic. With a projected 40—45 percent increase in homelessness over the upcoming year, the organization will continue providing relief to the people of New York in the form of meals, housing, job training, and more.
