Audemars Piguet kicked off the third edition of Art Basel Hong Kong last Friday with a 500-attendee celebration. A few important announcements were made, such as Ruijun Shen’s acceptance to be the guest curator for Audemars Piguet Art Commission 2016, and French designer Mathieu Lehanneur’s opening of the brand’s updated collectors lounge at the fair titled, “Mineral Lab.”
Held at the California Tower, the décor by Lehanneur was inspired by Piguet’s home in Vallé de Loux and features an eco-living wall. Sound installations by French artist Alexander Joly (that combine recorded natural and technological visuals and audio bits) had a powerful presence too. There was also a showcase of classic women’s heritage timepieces from 1900-2015.

“Art has always been an important source of inspiration for Audemars Piguet. The collaborations between contemporary art and the superb artistry and technical mastery of watchmaking continue to extend, and stronger connections between the two worlds are forged each year,” said François-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet.
