Baselworld 2017 takes place March 23—30 in Switzerland. Whitewall is showcasing highlights from watchmakers and their newest and most novel timepieces.
Bulgari introduced a world record watch, the Octo Finissimo Automatic Watch, with a 5.15-mm thick case, self-winding movements, a 60-hour power reserve, and 21,600 vibrations per hour. The watch is available in two styles: a titanium bracelet with a folding clasp or black alligator leather with a titanium pin buckle.
Chopard stayed classic with the Mille Miglia Classic XL 90th Anniversary Limited Edition piece—a celebratory ode to the past 90 years of automobile passion and Italian-style racing spirit. The elegantly sporty rose gold case is unmistakable, framing a porcelain-like white dial, Arabic numerals, and counters all resemble the vintage dashboards of cars. The hand-wound flyback chronograph was borrowed and reimagined from the Chopard’s haute horlogerie L.U.C. collection for the special occasion.
Greubel Forsey’s “Art of Invention” tagline is propelled this year at Baselworld with its new timepiece, Balancier, seen with unique qualities and limit-pushing features. The timepiece’s refined and subtle creative facets complement each other with blue minutes and seconds hands, pure lines, the sleek dial, the intricate engraving on the back, and its six gold mean-time screws by which it’s held together.
