Last week, Baselworld brought us some of the finest in watches and jewelry. Here, we’re showcasing some of the most exquisite pieces you won’t want to miss.
Chanel brought something special for everyone with the debut of six distinctive styles. We saw the return of a house icon, the Première Rock Gold, as well as a new take on the Boy-friend, which lends a masculine twist to the quintessential octagonal face and clean lines. “Monsieur de Chanel,” Chanel’s men’s watch collection, returned for a third year, as well. This time, it included a one-of-a-kind pocket watch and a limited-edition clock. Other styles featured were the J12, Code Coco, and Mademoiselle Privè.
de Grisogono’s New Retro continues to celebrate the past and create the future with two new designs—Double Jeu and Power Reserve. Double Jeu (available in either pink or white gold) represents unconventionality with a rectangular dual display, and sparkling diamonds surrounding the oscillating half-moon weights. On a more masculine note, Power Reserve bares its exquisitely crafted gears in a skeletonized glass encasement, complemented by a fitted alligator leather strap, in addition to pink or white gold accents.
Artist Cy Twombly inspired Graff’s new collection of artistic jewels. Mimicking the calligraphic quality of Twombly’s work, the house’s jewels transform into pieces like sweet, floral earrings and a necklace that elegantly drips diamonds. Also presented at Baselworld was the Graff Floral (a colorful timepiece featuring vibrant enamel blooms on a mother of pearl face) and the Exceptional Métiers D’art pieces.
Chopard presented an exquisite collection of watches, earrings, bracelets, and more, alongside the brand’s announcement that as of this July, they will be using 100% ethically sourced gold in their designs. Chopard began their goal to sustainability in 2013 when they announced a partnership with Eco-Age. Rolex revealed the latest installation in their “Oyster” collection, the GMT-Master II. Featuring Rolex’s new movement, caliber 3285, the GMT-Master II presents two time zones, available in two versions with a bidirectional, rotatable bezel and a two-color Cerachrom insert (in either black or the new brown ceramic) and Oystersteel.
