In this week’s edition of Brand New, we’re looking at the newest releases from Berluti, diptyque, Prada, and more.
Berluti has teamed up with Tectona, a French outdoor furniture brand, to create limited-edition outdoor pieces celebrating artisanal design. A limited-edition collection of 60 teak deck chairs and 23 teak folding beds will be exclusively available in a selection of 30 Berluti stores and online. The pieces will complement the brand’s Summer 2022 ready-to-wear and leather goods, including printed Giant Scritto silk shirts and swimming trunks, seasonal Arabesque Scritto bags, and shoes like the Eden shoes and the Sifnos sandals.
diptyque is launching a “Summer Essentials” fragrance line on June 3 in collaboration with artist Matthieu Cosse. The collection pays tribute to the Mediterranean landscapes of Italy, Provence, and Greece where Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet,—two of the brand’s founders—drew inspiration for decades. This is also where Cosse has been invited to create colorful, neoclassical, and sun-kissed drawings for the collection, reflecting its combination of beauty, simplicity, and utility. Fragrance notes include prickly pear, lemongrass, eucalyptus, and lavender.
The twin sister design duo Rachel and Anna Amsalemare New York-based third-generation jewelers founded Gemella Jewels to draw inspiration from their family’s one-of-a-kind designs. Their newest collections, “Connections” and “Stella’s Vault, showcase understated luxury with high-end, customizable, and mix-and-match gold and gemstone pieces—perfect for the summer and beyond.
Jil Sander has announced the publishing of a new volume in the ongoing series of Lucie and Luke Meier’s collaborations with artists and photographers, entitled Paris. Realized by photographer and previous collaborator Chris Rhodes, who roamed the streets of Paris searching for coincidences and chance encounters, Paris features pictures in an abstract and non-linear visual sequence, showing the delicate environment and interconnection of individuals.
The jewelry designer Karma El Khalil has launched her newest collection, “Conversations with the Moon,” as an homage to the beauty and mystery that nature holds. The gems, set in 18-karat gold, include tourmaline, morganite, opal, chalcedony, apatite, jade, dioptase, and aquamarine, reminiscent of the moon’s reflection, pallor, shadow, and the ebb and flow of currents. A selection of styles are available now on Moda Operandi.
Maison Margiela, in collaboration with Reebok, has released three new trainers in tonal white and tonal black. For this latest chapter in the partnership, Maison Margiela creative director John Galliano reimagines these Reebok classics through the house’s signature concept—the “memory of.” It evokes the memory of something that once was, the impression of familiar elements through material deconstruction.
Prada has launched “Tropico,” an exclusive series of window installations at Neiman Marcus NorthPark in Dallas. The spaces present an original landscape inspired by the colors and atmospheres of striking distant lands, expressing Prada’s iconic triangle motif in a contemporary neon Pop language and melding urban references with elements from a transfigured natural setting. The ivory white and green hues on the columns, models, floors, and walls are echoed in the garments and accessories from the store’s special collection, endowing silk blouses, skirts, pajama-inspired looks, casual men’s shirts and shorts, striped hats, and the Prada Triangle bag with a vital burst of energy.
