In this week’s edition of Brand New, we’re giving you a look at our favorite new releases from brands like Dior, Cecilie Bahnsen, and Montblanc.
Complete your lineup of autumnal accessories with Dior’s new 30 Montaigne sunglasses, introduced during the house’s Fall/Winter 2021 presentation. Inspired by the iconic bag of the same name, the squared 1970s-style frames bear the signature “CD” logo and comes in ivory, black, or tortoiseshell, with options of burgundy, blue, or gray lenses.
Designer Cecilie Bahnsen is debuting a collaboration with the British fashion house Mackintosh in her Fall/Winter 2020 collection—out now. Including seven coats in two silhouettes, the pair have reinterpreted men’s outerwear styles from Mackintosh’s archives with a feminine touch, seen in an oversized hooded cape and in a take on a classic Mac coat with Bahnsen’s signature volume. The two styles come in fabrications like Mackintosh’s waterproof bonded cotton, a waterproof nylon, and Bahnsen’s famous lightweight matelassé.
Montblanc’s latest Meisterstück backpack is the perfect juxtaposition of business and leisure. Comfortable, stylish, and simple, the bag is made from quality chrome-tanned bovine black leather and features padded, adjustable straps to ensure you can carry all of your everyday essentials with ease.
Acne Studios’s “Repurposed” collection proposes a solution to wastefulness by utilizing leftover materials from past designs to create something new. Due to debut in a succession of releases, each series of designs will focus on a specific motif or point of view, conceived solely to repurpose the remains of recently manufactured collections. Available online and in stores, the first drop features women’s essentials like: a fitted blazer cut from contrasting tweed and wool fabrications; jeans sewn from vertical panels of denim, tweed, tailoring cloth, and leather; and other garments that highlight a recurring zipper motif.
The jeweler and diamond specialist Thelma West has just introduced a new series of responsible designs made using ethically sourced African diamonds, fair mined gold, and repurposed materials from vintage jewelry. The gorgeous collection features timeless rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces like: the Rebel Rose ring with a pear-shaped diamond; a bracelet made from 25 carats of heart-shaped diamonds; and the Golden Kites earrings, made with a mixture of yellow and white diamonds.
The artist Cindy Sherman and fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez have joined forces for a collaboration benefitting Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. Together, the pair have designed a limited-edition t-shirt bearing one of Sherman’s portraits that will donate proceeds back to the organization, which provides essential reproductive health services and education. Available for purchase online, the collaboration was captured by the iconic photographer duo Inez and Vinoodh in a campaign featuring Christy Turlington.
D.A.P. publishing has just launched a new book entitled Young, Gifted and Black: A New Generation of Artists. Edited by Antwaun Sargent, the publication features commentary by curators, artists, and other experts like Matt Wycoff, Anthony Graham, and Jessica Bell Brown surrounding the young and emerging Black artists who compose the collection of Bernard I. Lumpkin and Carmine D. Boccuzzi. Cassina has proposed a new concept of intimacy with its Bio-mbo bed by Patricia Urquiola. Creating a cozy environment with a padded, quilted headboard, the bed offers eight design options—like a lamp, a bedside table, built-in storage pockets, and side panels—that allow easy adaptions to your personal space. While the design is truly beautiful, the highlight of the Bio-mbo is Cassina LAB’s innovative theBreath® material, which absorbs pollutants, allergens, and bacteria in the air around you, neutralizing harmful particles as you sleep.
