This week, we’re sharing our favorite Brand New releases from brands like Louis Vuitton, Westfield, Dior, STAUD, Phaidon, YOOX, and more.
This month, Louis Vuitton launched its newest line, Taïgarama—a sophisticated leather goods collection made of the house’s Taïga leather. With new styles and a vibrant yet casual energy, the spirit of travel and craftsmanship is heightened with new colors like Pacific blue, Antarctica white, Amazon green, Bahia yellow, and monogram eclipse. New large iconic styles, such as the Keepall, Outdoor Bumbag, and Horizon 50 Rolling Luggage is complemented by a array of smaller styles, like the Multiple Walley and the Pocket Organizer.
Seen at Westfield, projected on the space’s enormous digital screens through Friday, is video artwork by Laurie Simmons. Produced by Art Production Fund, the 19 screens of various sizes (one measuring four stories tall, and another expanding 280 feet long) are covered in floral works by the artist.
Dior has continued its steadfast relationship with artist KAWS by releasing a new BFF piece—a plush doll, dressed in various Dior pieces. Limited to 500 pieces each, the two styles represent Mr. Christian Dior as an avatar. One wears a jean jacket and trousers, and the other is dressed in an elegant suit in black wool.
STAUD is celebrating something entirely new—a footwear line, full of various styles and colors. Available exclusively on Net-a-Porter and STAUD’s site, the collection offers six new styles: Billie, a wedge slide; Gita, a strappy sandal; Gina, a stamped slide; Astrid, a fun sandal; Keith, a heeled sandal; and Rio, a flip-flop style shoe. For the launch, co-creative director Sarah Staudinger also welcomes a New York showroom, open by an appointment-only basis through May 15.
The release of Phaidon’s latest book, Art & Queer Culture by Catherine Lord and Richard Meyer, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. The book is a comprehensive survey of over 250 artists, exploring the history of queer representation over the past 130 years. In its pages, there is a mix of underground art with more well-known paintings sculptures, and photographs, as well as scrapbooks, bar murals, activist posters, and cartoons.
Now live on YOOX is the intimate sale of the late Franca Sozzani’s private collection. The exclusive selection of 397 ready-to-wear pieces and 190 accessories includes pieces once cherished by Sozzani, like dresses and coats from designers like Valentino, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, Alberta Ferretti, Giambattista Valli, and Raplh Lauren. Sales proceeds benefit the new Franca Sozzani Fund for preventive genomics at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard.
