Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi

Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts Debuts in the Maldives With Luxurious Ranfushi Retreat

With a private island in the Raa Atoll, Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts continues its carefully paced expansion into resort destinations—this time translating its Italian design language to the Indian Ocean.

Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts is set to open Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi in the Maldives, marking the brand’s first property in the archipelago and a notable step in its long-term hospitality strategy. First announced in 2022, the Roman jewelry house brings its restrained approach to luxury hospitality to the Raa Atoll, joining an existing portfolio that includes Milan, London, Paris, Dubai, Bali, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Rome. The opening also aligns with Bvlgari’s broader expansion plans, with new destinations announced through 2030, including Bodrum, Miami Beach, Cave Cay, and Abu Dhabi.

A Considered Island Presence

The name Ranfushi comes from the local Dhivehi language, translating to “Little Gold Island”—a subtle nod to the brand’s heritage without overt symbolism. Located approximately 45 minutes by seaplane from Malé International Airport, the resort is surrounded by dense tropical vegetation, shallow lagoons, and uninterrupted views of turquoise water, with neighboring islands appearing faintly on the horizon.

Unlike Bvlgari’s urban hotels, which often sit within architectural landmarks, the Maldives property is intentionally intimate. The resort features 54 accommodations in total, including 33 beach villas with private pools, 20 overwater villas, and a singular Bvlgari Villa set on its own private island. The scale allows the property to feel deliberate rather than expansive—an approach consistent with the brand’s preference for precision over excess.

Architecture Rooted in Context

Designed by ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, longtime collaborators of Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts, the resort reflects the studio’s contemporary architectural language while responding carefully to its environment. Structures are low-slung and integrated into the landscape, using natural materials and open sightlines to minimize visual impact. Sustainability plays a central role, with the design prioritizing environmental responsibility and respect for local biodiversity.

Interiors follow a similar philosophy. Rather than importing a fixed aesthetic, ACPV adapts the Bvlgari visual vocabulary to the Maldivian context—layering Italian design sensibility with regional materials, textures, and spatial rhythms. The result is understated and cohesive, emphasizing comfort, proportion, and a sense of place over overt luxury signaling.

Dining as a Defining Element

As with all Bvlgari properties, gastronomy is integral to the experience. The resort introduces four distinct dining concepts, each aligned with the brand’s global culinary identity.

Il Ristorante – Niko Romito anchors the offering with refined Italian cuisine from the three-Michelin-starred chef, whose minimalist approach has become synonymous with Bvlgari dining worldwide. Bao Li Xuan, led by the team behind the two-Michelin-starred restaurant at Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai, presents Chinese fine dining rooted in seasonality and balance.

Hōseki, previously introduced at Bvlgari Resort Dubai, offers an intimate Japanese omakase experience, paired with a focused sake selection. For a more relaxed setting, La Spiaggia delivers Italian coastal cuisine designed for daytime dining—uncomplicated, fresh, and suited to the rhythm of island life.

Wellness, Leisure, and Quiet Moments

The Bvlgari Bar—an essential feature of the brand’s hotels—reappears here in a more tranquil form, trading skyline views for open water and evening light. The Bvlgari Spa anchors the resort’s wellness offering, complete with treatment rooms, a fitness center, a yoga pavilion, and a private library, creating space for both physical activity and slower forms of restoration.

La Galleria, the brand’s curated retail concept, rounds out the experience with a selection of fashion, accessories, and design objects from international designers, intended less as a shopping destination than as an extension of Bvlgari’s lifestyle universe.

With Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi, the brand translates its urban luxury ethos into an island setting with restraint and clarity, offering a Maldives experience shaped as much by design and scale as by its surrounding natural beauty.
