This week in New York, revered Art Advisor and Philanthropist Thomas Rom, alongside partner Adrian Danchig-Waring, the illustrious Principal Dancer of the New York City Ballet and Artistic Director of the New York Choreographic Institute, hosted an effervescent celebration of the American premiere of R.O.S.E. at The Park Avenue Armory. Stunningly commissioned by Sadler’s Wells, Factory International, and The Park Avenue Armory, and produced by Factory International for Manchester International Festival, the memorable event took place from September 5-12 in the city.

Within their dazzling, art-filled abode, Rom and Danchig-Waring honored globally acclaimed choreographer Sharon Eyal and masterful creative partner Gai Behar beside a myriad of close friends and cultural figureheads from across the world. In dynamic partnership with Whitewall, the jubilant event held amidst the flurry of New York Fashion Week raised a toast to R.O.S.E., a captivating new endeavor which skillfully fused modern dance and club culture.

Throughout the elegant and soulful home, notable attendees including philanthropists Jon Stryker and Slo Randjelovic, artists Miles Greenberg and Federico de Francesco, as well as dancers Mira Nadon and Unity Phelan, joined Executive Director of Performance Space NY Pati Hertling, gallerist Ethan Sklar, Director of Rockefeller Brothers Fund Arts & Culture Ben Rodriguez-Cubeñas, Curator Yvonne Force Villareal, and many more for a shimmering evening in appreciation of Eyal and Behar’s mesmeric and powerful performance piece.

Intermeshed with the musical stylings of DJ Ben UFO, the riveting project at Park Avenue Armory invoked the deeply felt vibrations of electronic music, the soaring grace of contemporary dance, and the fiery atmosphere of a famed dance club. Led with Caius Pawson of London-based multi-arts organization Young, proficient dancers and spirited audience members united for an experimental spectacle, reveling in the pure joy of collective, rhythmic movement.

The theatrical encounter brought together a parade of intuitive luminaries, with Creative Direction and Stage Design by Daphnée Lanternier, Co-Lighting Design by Alon Cohen and Brandon Stirling Baker, Costume Design by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior Couture, as well as Jewelry and Makeup Design by Noa Eyal Behar. Within the kaleidoscopic space brimming with light, energy, and heart-pumping beats, a festival of mystery, androgyny, and sensuality ensued.
