Pizzeria Delfina, Minnesota Street Project, and the Headlands: Charles de Lisle’s San Francisco

In San Francisco this week for FOG Design+Art (January 11-14) and Untitled (January 12-14)? If so, we’re featuring our top places to check out while in town—from bars and restaurants to shops and relaxing spaces. Below, we hear from designer Charles de Lisle on where he enjoys going for art, food, and tranquility.

WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
Cala for freshly made tacos, but only at lunch in the back alley. The menu is inspired by rural Mexico, with ingredients that change every day. Excellent jugo and agua fresca. I can also never pass on a crispy Neapolitan-style pizza. At Pizzeria Delfina, order the Panna with pepperoni.

WHERE TO SEE ART
Minnesota Street Project—a collaborative initiative with galleries, studios, and event spaces in Dogpatch. It’s home to Adrian Rosenfeld, who has a beautiful space rotating with shows from notable galleries around the world; Casemore Kirkeby and Ever Gold in the main building both always have great work. It’s a superb way to spend an afternoon.

WHERE TO HAVE FUN AND RELAX
I always head north. The trails out on Highway 1 in the Headlands, or up a bit further in West Marin, are amazing. Wild, big open spaces overlooking the cliffs out toward the Pacific, with redwood groves, endless fields of grass, or moody beaches.
