Right before Thanksgiving, Claridge’s, London revealed it’s annual Christmas tree, right in the lobby of the magnificent and iconic Mayfair Hotel. The holiday landmark was designed this year by frequent guests Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana.
The tree stands seven meters high, filled to the brim with classic Christmas decorations that incorporate traditional Sicilian elements. 450 Italian glass ornaments hang from the tree, blown by artisans from Verona and Lake of Como. All baubles were hand painted with the symbols and portraits of Sicilian culture and the things one would see in a standard Sicilian garden. 30 Sicilian marionettes surround the beautiful base of the tree, hand-crafted in wood and velvet, and dressed as canonical medieval knights.

Visitors and Londoners alike make a special trip to see the tree annually, photographing the twinkling red, yellow, and green lights to get into the holiday spirit.
