Louis Vuitton has created a savoir-faire experience at the Los Angeles space Goya studios, open through September 25 and coinciding with the bicentennial birthday of the house founder Monsieur Louis Vuitton. To visit by private appointment only, the installation guides visitors through an exclusive showcase of the maison’s most treasured designs and artistry across its entire oeuvre of designs.
Through a series of themed stages, viewers can see firsthand the result of the house’s craftsmanship and heritage in the context of three cinematic settings, including a Parisian apartment from the lens of black-and-white Hollywood films, a historic Louis Vuitton workshop, and a seaside escape that evolves with the time of day. Each scenario has been specially curated to portray the artfully intentional Louis Vuitton universe through the inclusion of items from the house’s most exclusive métiers, like its Objets Nomades collections, exotic handbags, and iconic hard-sided trunks.
Design pieces from Damien Langlois-Meurinne and Tokujin Yoshioka make their American debut within the Objets Nomades collection in new colorways, pieces from the house’s collaboration with the design brand Fornasetti, and designs by the artist Alex Israel. Also on view is a selection of clothing, recherché watches, one-of-a-kind handbags, fine jewelry, and other collaborations, as well as a tribute to Monsieur Vuitton and the house’s history.
