Friday Fête: Dinner with Gigi Hadid, The Good Society Summit, Bergdorf Good Night, and More

The worlds of fashion and art are in full swing for both Armory Week and New York Fashion Week, which means an accompanying busy calendar of events. In this week’s edition of Friday Fête, we’re sharing the latest happenings, like dinner with Gigi Hadid for the launch of her clothing label, The Good Society’s sustainability summit in Brooklyn, Bergdorf Goodman’s Good Night party, and more.

On Tuesday, in honor of the model Gigi Hadid’s new fashion label, Guest in Residence, she celebrated on the eve of its launch with an enjoyable night of with friends and family. At Saks Fifth Avenue’s Le Chalet restaurant, Hadid hosted names like Bella Hadid, Precious Lee, Imaan Hammam, Anok Yai, Noor Tagouri, and Sophia Roe, who arrived in various pieces of Guest in Residence’s luxury cashmere garments. Within the intimate bar and eatery, they enjoyed a night of Parisian cuisine, cocktails, entertainment from DJ Amrit, and a photo booth experience by MirMir.

Wednesday was chockful of parties, pop-ups, and dinners across the city. First, at The St. Regis New York, The Green Vase held a party for the opening of its paper flower shop in the hotel’s Cognac Room, which honors a newfound partnership between Livia Cetti’s artisanal brand and the hotel. Bubbling rosé and hors d’oeuvres in hand, partygoers gained a first look at the temporary shop, inspired by the hotel’s glamorous gilded age patroness, Caroline Aster, whose favorite flower was one in the same with the hotel’s emblematic rose. Through September 11 and within the Cognac Room retail activation, visitors can shop a gorgeous installation of paper flowers before sticking around for a flora-centric tea service, conceived specially for the pop-up.

Then, at the Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater, the Couture Council of The Museum at FIT’s (MFIT) annual luncheon named Maria Grazia Chiuri the recipient of the 2022 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion for her role as Dior’s Creative Director of womenswear. Hosted by presenter Nordstrom and co-chairs Julie Macklowe and Kara Ross, the elegant daytime affair saw the honorary title presented to Chiuri by the editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, Samira Nasr, to an audience featuring names like Kat Graham, Fe Fendi, Aurora James, and Derek Blasberg. The luncheon also raised funds for MFIT’s free, public programming.

Outline Opening

Also that day, the brand new Brooklyn concept store Outline opened its doors to patrons for the first time. The reveal saw founders Margaret Austin, Julia Edelman, and Hannah Rieke greeting visitors at the indoor-outdoor retail concept, which exists in a 1,200 square-feet Boerum Hill space outfitted with a garden. Its light, inviting interiors saw guests like Benji Gavron, Yara Flinn, Sara Nsikak, and Sabrina Reales browsing the racks—filled with a curated selection of womenswear offerings by new and established brands like Lemaire, Dries Van Noten, and Gabriele Skucas—while sipping beverages from drink partner ZuZu. The party came to an end after dancing at the nearby Café Kitsuné.

Meanwhile, in Chinatown, Longchamp celebrated the launch of its Fall/Winter 2022 campaign “Les Filles” and its “Box-Trot” handbag collection with a party at The Crown NYC. Attended by special guest Natalia Dyer and those like Tezza Barton, Mallory Bechtel, Dylana Suarez, and Coco Bassey, the maison’s North America CEO and President Paul Lorraine addressed his guests before kicking off the party. Those in attendance were treated to an evening complete with a viewing of the campaign film, sonic entertainment from DJs Amrit and Gonnie Garko, portraits by The Collective You, accessory personalization services, and a spread of light bites.

Acqua di Parma x Frevo dinner

Acqua di Parma conceived a dinner in honor of its new fragrance, Magnolia Infinita, in collaboration with the art-centric restaurant Frevo and chef Franco Sampogna. On Wednesday evening, the fragrance house invited guests to the Greenwich Village cuisine destination, where its cozy 14-seat layout was the platform for a dining experience curated around the notes of the newest addition to the “Signatures of the Sun” collection—a sensuous combination of magnolia, citrus, bergamot, sambac jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang, and patchouli.

The last stop of the night was at The Good Society’s sustainability summit—an evening of entertainment and conversation surrounding solutions to supply chain and sustainability issues across industries like art, technology, fashion, politics, and more. Hosted 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge with support from presenting sponsor Ometria, the experience intermingled discussion, cuisine, and performances throughout the night, also collecting donations for Oceanic Global’s Blue Grants program. Featuring a multi-course plant-based menu by The Osprey’s Executive Chef Denevin Miranda and Executive Sous Chef Diego Chaparro (with sumptuous dishes like summer corn risotto and hen of the woods with cashew puree), the cuisine was interspersed with happenings like a sound bath, live jazz performances, and discourse between experts in sustainability like Lilian Liu, Lauren Singer, who is the founder of Package Free, Bolt Threads’s Creative Director Bowen Ames, the Founder and CEO of re/make, Ayesha Barenbalt, and supercircle’s Co-Founder and CEO, Chloe Marie Songer.

Bergdorf Good Night

Bergdorf Goodman set the bar for the upcoming New York Fashion Week festivities yesterday with its exclusive Bergdorf Good Night party. The vintage charm of the luxury retailer’s Goodman’s Bar set a stunning scene for the night, which hosted a guestlist of names like Christopher John Rogers, Wes Gordon, Chloe Fineman, Evan Mock, and Marisa Abela. The event unfolded cabaret-style, while guests lounged with signature sips and tasty bites, enjoying a night featuring Karen Elson and her band the mistress of ceremonies, drag queen Symone, and DJ Aiden.

Introducing its new collection of leather goods, Aman Essentials launched the designs yesterday with dinner and a late-night cocktail party. The luxury house’s CEO Kristina Romanova invited guests like Jessica Chastain, Amina Mauddi, Eli Mizrahi, and Maria Sharapova to a sophisticated and intimate meal at Aman New York. The party livened up after dinner when the group descended to the hotel’s new Jazz Club, where musicians like Brian Newman and KESH ensured the merrymaking lasted late into the evening.

Opening Ceremony x UGG

For the occasion of Opening Ceremony’s 20th anniversary, the brand debuted a new collaboration with UGG at its fashion week celebration last night in New York. The partnership—which showcases multiple colorways of a reimagined UGG Tazz mule and a platform Wallabee boot—debuted at the Brooklyn nightclub Schimanski to an audience of names like Moses Sumney, Bowen Yang, Chi Osse, Ilana Glazer, and Rowan Blanchard. The night was focused on the intersection of fashion and music, and saw partygoers experiencing the collaboration firsthand, worn by performers and attendees alike, throughout performances by Todd Terry, DJs Samson and Nita Aviance, Papi Juice, Mazurbate, and Kevin Aviance.

Also yesterday evening, but in Detroit, Gucci commemorated the opening of its new boutique and the start of Detroit Design Month with the opening of the exhibition “Building a Lasting Impact” at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. Honoring the maison’s presence in the city and the Gucci Changemakers Scholars (the 24 designers and scholars around whom the exhibition is focused), the brand invited its friends and local creatives figures for a night of fun and a preview of the exhibition. In attendance were those like Tommey Walker (the founder of local brand Detroit vs. Everybody, who recently debuted a collaboration with Gucci), exhibition curator Kiana Wenzell, Nep Sidhu, Akil West, and Mario Moore, who joined in an evening complete with treats from locals like Ray’s Ice Cream, music by the native DJ BMAJR, and a special poetry reading by jessica Care more.

Tonight, we’re looking forward to a night hosted by De Beers Group in New York at Temple Bar. The cocktail will honor the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist, the jewelry designer Harwell Godfrey, whilst raising funds for the nonprofit Everytown / For Gun Safety with the sale of a diamond-laden Charity Heart pendant.

And on Sunday, we’ll be enjoying a party at The William Vale hotel hosted by the American producer and DJ Diplo. At the hotel’s rooftop bar Westlight, the New York Fashion Week party will see special guest—like Amémé, Deroos, &friends, and Mashrik—while indulging in specialty cocktails and exquisite cuisine by award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini’s NoHo Hospitality.
