In this week’s edition of Friday Fête, we’re sharing details on summer soirées like a collaborative dinner with Scarpetta and Caviar Russe, Miu Miu’s Tennis Club, an art-filled night at Fotografiska New York, and more.
Starting a busy Tuesday in New York, Miu Miu offered a reprieve from the city’s bustle for the occasion of the New York edition of the Miu Miu Tennis Club. Hosted at The West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, the leisurely day saw a Miu Miu-clad guestlist—including Amalie Gassmann, Ella Emhoff, Amanda Murray, and Reign Judge—lounging about the elegant digs for a luncheon, taking part in tennis lessons (complete with branded equipment), and dancing to a lively DJ set.
That evening at the Noguchi Museum in Queens, guests joined the dancer and artist Brendan Fernandes in celebration of his new monograph, Brendan Fernandes. Re/Form. With cocktails in hand, they browsed the garden and galleries before sitting down for a discussion between Fernandes and dancers from “Brendan Fernandes: Contract and Release,” (previously featured at the museum from September 11, 2019–March 8, 2020), which was moderated by the museum’s Senior Curator Dakin Hart.
Also on Tuesday night, but in SoHo, we headed to Veranda, where the champagne house Veuve Clicquot commemorated its 250th birthday with the debut of “THE ICONS” collection, featuring special-edition packaging for the brand’s favorite bottles. After kicking off the night with a selection of Clicquot Rich cocktails—like the Clicquot Rich Mojito and the Rich Rosè Grapefruit Fizz—partygoers were treated to a special pairing menu by the restaurant’s in-house Chef George Mendes. Made with responsibly sourced ingredients to accompany sips like the Yellow Label, Non-Vintage Rosè, and Demi-Sec, the meal was interspersed with words from Veuve Clicquot’s Vice President, Anne-Sophie Stock.
Closing out the night, Fotografiska New York hosted a fête in honor of the artist Shantell Martin and the founder of Gallery Gurls, Jasmin Hernandez. Launching the evening with a live musical performance by Martin—who has been making music for more than a decade—guests then took part in a discussion with Hernandez, which took place fireside. The evening was complete with book signings of Martin’s first HENI-published monograph, Lines, and Hernandez’s title, We Are Here: Visionaries of Color Transforming The Art World.
On Wednesday at Scarpetta’s idyllic outdoor cafè on Madison Avenue, a partnership with the Michelin-starred restaurant Caviar Russe saw a special night of cuisine prepared by Caviar Russe’s Executive Chef Edgar Panchernikov. Guests were welcomed at the start of the evening by the musician Chino Pons, who performed throughout the night. Following words and a toast from LDV Hospitality’s Founder and President John Meadow, guests were seated and an exquisite five-course tasting menu unfolded. The sumptuous bites included dishes like caviar with tomato and burrata, charred Akaushi Wagyu with uni and caviar, caviar spaghetti, and pistachio gelato for dessert.
Tonight, the beauty and wellness brand Malin + Goetz is launching the first iteration of its Artist Series with a party in Brooklyn. Honoring the local artist Dapo Davinci, guests can expect an intimate evening of sips and shopping, featuring a special collection of one-of-a-kind candles that have been hand-painted by the artist.
Last but not least, we’ll close out the week at Ace Hotel Brooklyn, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary this weekend. Starting tonight with a conversation hosted with NEW INC on sustainable music distribution (which will inevitably end in live DJ sets and a dance party), the festivities will stretch late into Saturday evening. Tomorrow afternoon, a block party will welcome DJ sets from The Mixtape Club, fare and drinks from the hotel’s eatery, As You Are, and goods from names like Weaving Hand and Head Hi. Next, guests will want to pay a visit to the hotel’s exhibition “Little Artists,” which is presented by the Children’s Museum of the Arts (open through September 29). Finally, the celebration will culminate with a dance party in the hotel lobby, welcoming musical entertainment by DJs Gabsoul, Quinnette, and Frei Speech.
