Friday Fête: Montblanc Debuts #MY4810, Perrotin Hosts Holy Dinner, and More

This week, Whitewall’s Friday Fête takes you to festivities in New York, and celebrations in Basel and Florence surrounding Art Basel and Pitti Uomo.

On Monday, Galerie Perrotin celebrated with an opening dinner within the Elisabethenkirche—one of the city’s most iconic structures. Guests like Daniel Arsham, Charles Carmignac, Samuel Boutruche, Guillaume Houzé, Bernard Frize, Wim Delvoye joined Emmanuel Perrotin at a long candlelit dinner table before enjoying a DJ set by Pedro Winter and Philippe Zdar.

On Wednesday, Swarovski and Design Miami/ Basel hosted an event at Hotel Kraftt to celebrate the announcement of its design installations (on view through June 17) by the three winners of its Swarovski Designers of the Future Award—”Dream Machine” by Frank Kolkman, “Slatned Tiles” by Study O Portable, and “Home Shrine” by Yosuke Ushigome. Each designer’s diverse works reflects their field (neuroscience and crystal technology, architectural surfaces with crystal and light, and the relationship between technology and man) showing an exhibition of works that communicate a mix of technological and creative expressions.

Last night in Zürich, La Prairie celebrated the announcement of its collaboration with Manon Wertenbroek, in dialogue with Niki de Saint Phalle—the artist responsible for the inspiration behind the luxury skincare brand’s signature cobalt blue color. For the occasion, Wertenbroek showed three works—Mirrors, Blue Portrait, and Window Glimpse—in the La Prairie Lounge within the Collectors Lounge at Art Basel, open from June 14-17.

In New York, the High Line Hat Party (a fundraiser for the elevated park) was in full swing. An immersive botanical installation by Lily Kwong Studio greeted guests to a hat competition presented by Daphne Always, with performances by Mia Moretti, Cross Colours, and Rita with Cole Ramstad. The event also highlighted Shaniqwa Jarvis’ wearable art with custom embroidered hats with pins featuring her images.

And last night in Florence at the Limonaia Corsini, Montblanc welcomed the launch of its newest luggage collection #MY4810. With skateboarders showing off skills to the sounds of DJ duo The Spectacular Now, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception mingling with guests like Toni Garrn, Winnie Harlow, Eric Underwood, and Tinie Tempah.

Tonight we’re welcoming the weekend with Martini & Rossi at Bar Convent Brooklyn, with their pop-up Caffe Torino bar. To learn more about the brand’s Riserva Speciale range, guests joined an array of spirit professionals (like London bartenders Giorgio Bargiani from Connaught Bar and Gabriele Manfredi from Oriole bar, and New York-based Naima Williams of WXYZ) for cocktails and an exhibition entitled “Make Bitter Choices.” The brand’s master herbalist Ivano Tonutti and master blender Beppe Musso are also in town for the occasion to discussion inspiration, craft, and creation.
