For this week’s Friday Fête column, we’re sharing details from events hosted by Bonhams, Moschino, the Bronx Museum, and more.
On Wednesday, the “Design Within Reach Celebrates Women in Design” panel was held during NYCxDESIGN. Jessica Romm Perez moderated the dynamic discussion which featured a medley of women at the forefront of design including Sarah Ellison, Tiffany Howell, Laura Brown, and Tze Chun. The night included cocktails and savory bites courtesy of Acquolina and floral arrangements from Flowers by Ford.
On Thursday, Bonhams hosted The Laurel Foundation’s first annual, “The Art Of_” auction to raise funding for mental health and support programs, as well as a gender-affirming community for transgender/gender diverse youth and and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Throughout the evening, 75 artworks were purchased as television personality Carson Kressley emceed the viewing party.
That same Thursday night in London, Moschino celebrated the launch of American fashion designer and creative director of the house Jeremy Scott’s Assouline book with an intimate dinner at Spencer House. Guests sipped on Italian Sgroppino cocktails, a mixture of lemon sorbet and Bollinger champagne whisked to order, while a dinner of charred asparagus, caramelized goats cheese, and avocado brioche was served to taste.
Also on Thursday evening, but in New York, The Bronx Museum hosted its 50th Anniversary gala and auction raising a record-breaking $1.4 million. The Bronx-born pianist and composer Valerie Capers greeted guests during a cocktail hour, while the performer Maluca offered an energetic dance performance. To celebrate 50 years of art access, there was a live auction conducted by Joey Quigley of Christie’s and a silent auction powered by Artsy, which featured the work of over 50 emerging and established artists.
