Friday Fête: Parrish Art Museum Parties, Spring Place Celebrates Missoni’s New Cookbook, and More

Last Saturday in Water Mill, New York, the Parrish Art Museum welcomed nearly 500 artists, business leaders, and philanthropists to its 2018 Midsummer Party. Hosted by the museum’s director, Terrie Sultan, the event honored Chad Leat (long-time supporter and trustee) and Keith Sonnier (who currently has exhibitions on view at the museum entitled “Keith Sonnier: Until Today” and “The Permanent Collection: Five and Forward”). After a cocktail reception, dinner on the Mildred C. Brinn terrace, and a live auction moderated by Benjamin Doller from Sotheby’s and contemporary art specialist Michael Macaulay, the night culminated in the museum raising nearly $1.3 million for continued programming.

On Tuesday at Spring Place, we joined its executive chef, Fabio Bano, and The Missoni Family Cookbook author, Francesco Missoni, for a night of private cooking and champagne in the kitchen, and a family-style dinner in the dining area. The Italian professionals gave intimate lessons on crafting pasta, preserving vegetables, and making a classic chicken dish. Throughout the night, both Bano and Missoni shared secrets from within the kitchen and their Northern Italian roots—much of which is highlighted in the new Assouline-published book, available now.

And tomorrow in East Hampton, we’ll be celebrating with LongHouse Reserve on the grounds of its 16-acre reserve and sculpture garden for its The LongHouse Reserve Celebrates Brooklyn event. The night is set to honor Dustin Yellin of Pioneer Works and Joe Melilo of BAM for their unique and unconventional approach to artistry. The night will welcome guests to a cocktail reception, an auction, dinner, and dancing.
