On Wednesday night, Galerie Gmurzynska held a dinner at the the Pent House Suite of the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach. The evening celebrated the gallery’s outstanding presentation at Art Basel in Miami Beach this week, curated by Sir Norman Rosenthal with booth design by Claude Picasso.
Rosenthal curated “The Future is Our Only Goal,” a special exhibition of Russian avant-garde works that deal with abstraction, advertising, cinema, figuration, photography, poetry, and more by artists like Kazimir Malevich, Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova, Ilya Chashnik, Sonia Delaunay, Mikhail Larionov, Lyubov Popova, El Lissitzky, Olga Rozanova, Nikolai Suetin, and more.
“The Russian avant-garde was at the beginning of the 20th century by far the most advanced movement of its time,” said Rosenthal.
The celebration after the preview day of the fair saw guests like Brett Ratner, Dustin Yellin, Mayor of Miami Philip Levine, Claude Picasso, Diana Picasso, Alan Faena, Mathias Rastorfer Jean Pigozzi, Julia Stoschek, Dan Loeb, Julie Macklowe, among others.
