To kick off the Venice Biennale last week, Golden Goose hosted a multidisciplinary HAUS of Dreamers event at its new space in Marghera on April 19. Spanning the Academy, Manovia, Archive, Library, Playground, and Hangar spaces, “HAUS of Dreamers” immersed its guests in venue-wide performances by Italian sculptor Fabio Viale, French Italian painter Maïa Régis, Puerto Rican singer Mia Lailani, and Argentinian visual artist Andrés Reisinger. HAUS’s opening marks the start of a global cultural platform for Golden Goose’s community of creators.
Venice’s Past and Present
For Fabio Viale’s installation for HAUS, marble pillars resembling those of heritage Venetian architecture stood erect in a shallow body of water. In a statement of duality, Viale engulfed the pillars in flames, transforming them into burning wooden-like “Briccole” sculptures, symbolizing Venice’s past and present, myth and reality.
The Manovia: A Co-Creation Experience
In the Manovia space, a team of Golden Goose Dream Makers—the brand’s skillful artisans—introduced guests to the new Marathon sneakers. Guests were then invited to create customized versions of the sneakers, adorning them with personal touches including unique tags and laces.
The Academy: Live Silk-Screen Printing
Continuing into the next space, Maïa Régis performed a live silk-screen printing performance. The French Italian painter known for her vibrant compositions that emanate the buzz of popular culture pushed back against the mass production of industrial areas. Her methodical live art emphasized the fact that each piece here was handmade.
The Auditorium: Sounds, Stories, and Dreams
Puerto Rican singer Mia Lailani filled the Auditorium space with sounds, stories and dreams. Accompanied by experimental DJ beats and hypnotic visuals, the singer performed many of her singles. Lailani has been making waves in the music scene alongside her brother and producer, Devan Ibiza, since 2015. Together, they’ve harnessed the eclectic vibes of The Bronx to create a distinctive blend of pop, R&B, and hip-hop.
The Hangar: Golden Goose Dreamscapes
Guests ventured through an immersive tunnel to reach the final activation of the night at the Hangar. Andrés Reisinger created one of his hybrid worlds of sensorial experiences dubbed “dreamscapes” inspired by the Golden Goose universe. The Hangar was swathed with Reisinger’s signature pink tactile draping, inviting guests to ponder at the mystique behind the theatrical cloth wings.
The night culminated in an exclusive candlelit dinner graced by notable guests including the Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro, model Romme Strijd, pianist Alberto Bof, and more.
