“Texture of Time,” the launch of the Hermès H08 took place at the Noguchi Museum in New York on last week. Hermès transformed the museum into an immersive experience of a dance performance, expressing the fluidity and playfulness of the new timepiece.
The performance was conceived by Gerard & Kelly, an American artist duo based in Paris who focus on dance and contemporary art in their practice. Jonathan Fahoury and apprentice KJ Takahashi from the New York City Ballet performed together with independent artist Jon Baldwin. Sound design for the performance was conceived by Joakim Bouaziz, a French producer and founding member of Tigersushi.
Unlike the conventional perception of time, Hermès sought to depict its emotional and fantastical side through sound and movement, echoing the concept behind the new H08. The sporting-inspired design features seamless angles and curves, bedecked with mineral materials and tones, reflecting Véronique Nichanian’s creative direction for Hermès’s men’s universe.
Guests on June 8 included Misha Kahn, Jenny Walton, Lisle Richards, Jenny Schlenzka & Pati Hertling of Performance Space, Roze Traore, Stefano Tonchi, Eric Rutherford, Igee Okafor, and Vinson Fraley, among others.
