This year marks skateboarding’s second feature in the Olympic Games–a milestone achievement for the skateboarding community. To celebrate, the art, skate, and social change platform, THE SKATEROOM, presents an enthralling installation at Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood hotel.
THE SKATEROOM And Hôtel de Crillon Merge Their Distinctive Styles
Under the creative vision of Sarah Andelman and curator Aline Asmar d’Amman, architect and founder of Culture in Architecture, the collaboration between Hôtel de Crillon’s historical walls and THE SKATEROOM’s unique displays is a welcome union.

“I have been collaborating with THE SKATEROOM since their early days at Colette,” commented Andelman. “I always loved the synergy between the artists and the decks, which are by definition the coolest possible canvas. I’m very proud of introducing THE SKATEROOM to Hôtel de Crillon. It made perfect sense as the Place de la Concorde will turn into a skatepark this summer and Rosewood has always been very supportive of contemporary art.”

Known for their solo, diptych, and triptych skateboard artworks that uplift history’s most revered art pieces, THE SKATEROOM continues its vibrant assortment of creations with its latest presentation. The installation features 21 limited-edition works by artists including Cindy Sherman, Jurgen Teller, Jenny Holzer, Ai Weiwei, Jeff Koons, and Andy Warhol.

A Homage to Skateboarding and the Olympics
With the collaboration, Hôtel de Crillon and THE SKATEROOM pay tribute to the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. This goal aligned precisely with THE SKATEROOM’s creative and social passions, as the organization has a clear commitment to supporting over 40 community projects over the past ten years of its existence.
“The Olympics means unity,” explained Joanna Gunn, Chief Brand Officer of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “The coming together of a city, of the world, what better way to honor this than with skateboarding? Skateboarding is intrinsically linked with creativity, innovation, experimentation and community. Diverse at its core. Alive in the gathering of like-minded individuals, united in a passion. This summer, with THE SKATEROOM, Rosewood and Hôtel de Crillon will play host to the magic of skateboarding, art, enjoyment and community, to all who visit.”

THE SKATE ROOM Welcomes Artist Inès Longevial
The installation also includes a new collaboration between THE SKATE ROOM and French artist Inès Longevial, with pieces available for purchase solely at Rosewood. The collaboration is a testament to the fusion between THE SKATE ROOM’s mission and the contemporary art sphere, as 10% of Longevial’s piece proceeds will go to THE SKATE ROOM’s social partners.
Longevial’s painting, entitled Visage Bleu, is one of the artists’ key works in her exhibition “Les Silences du Désir.” The limited-edition works include solo and triptych boards in her vibrant impressionist style, with electric blue, romantic red, and velvety purple. With her close-up visage painting, Longevial continues her exploration of colorful portraiture. Longevial’s new pieces with THE SKATEROOM will be available for purchase solely at Rosewood.

“Style and irreverence are forever encapsulated within these walls that continue to witness moments of festive delight in the most unexpected fashion,” explained d’Amman. “Just like the energy born from the coming together of Rosewood’s Hôtel de Crillon and THE SKATEROOM, thanks to Sarah Andelman’s brilliant vision. It brings me great joy to see Ines Longevial’s skateboards in conversation with the Palace’s iconic interiors, fostering the inspirational theme of Marie-Antoinette’s elegance and fearlessness with artful power and feminine grace.”
