In celebration of the Big Bang‘s 10th anniversary, and in anticipation of Baselworld this week, Hublot revealed the Big Bang Unico Magic Gold watch in matte black and “magic gold.”
What is “magic gold?” A certified, protective, scratch-resistant 18K gold that was developed by Hublot in Switzerland in 2011, and used to craft this piece. Following the Big Bang Ferrari edition watches—the first to debut with precious metal at BaselWorld in 2012—the Big Bang Unico Magic Gold watch continues to live up to the expectations of exclusivity, innovation, and technology, with this effortlessly extravagant watch.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, stated, “The fusion of materials is in Hublot’s DNA. Four years ago, Hublot created Magic Gold, the only scratch-resistant gold in the world. Still today, Hublot is the only brand to offer this material, whose hardness is close to 1,000 Vickers, more than twice that of ‘standard’ 18 carat gold, which only reaches 400 Vickers.”
Limited to 250 pieces, the 45 mm case is made up entirely of polished Magic Gold. The sapphire crystal interior and exterior is equipped with anti-reflective coating and the gilt Hublot logo. Its push-pieces are satin-finished black PVD titanium, and the crown is the same, with an added black overmoulded rubber. It is conveniently water resistant up to 100 meters, and has a power reserve for up to 72 hours. A matte black-varnished skeleton encompasses red and 2N gold powder transfer, a satin-finished gilt counter ring at 9’clock and 3 o’clock, and has gilt plated indices.
