Where Insider Shepard Fairey Finds Inspiration Around L.A.

All this week in preparation for Frieze Los Angeles, we’re hearing from leading art, culture, and lifestyle experts share how they enjoy Los Angeles.

“I love the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles because it has a lot of amazing public art as well as galleries like Over The Influence and Hauser & Wirth and great restaurants like Manuela, The Pie Hole, and Wurstküche. The area has changed a lot, but it still retains a lot of its unvarnished charm. Also in Downtown are the MOCA (Geffen Contemporary and Grand Avenue) and The Broad. The Broad has a phenomenal collection and is free if you have the patience to wait in line to get in. I live in Los Feliz, and there are two amazing bookstores in the neighborhood that I love—Wacko on Hollywood Boulevard, which has art books and books on bizarre collectibles and novelties, as well as Skylight Books on Vermont, which has art and design books plus a lot of others related to activism and progressive culture.”
