IWC Schaffhausen‘s new Miami Design District boutique opened recently and to celebrate, the watchmaker launched an exclusive extension of the Perpetual Calendar timepiece, the Big Pilots’ Watch Perpetual Calendar Boutique Edition Miami. Only 50 pieces will be sold at the Design District location.
Similar to its sister watch, the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar, the Big Pilots’ Watch includes a perpetual moon phase display (that shows the state of the moon in the northern and southern hemispheres), a seven-day power reserve, and an automatic four-digit year display. It is encompassed in a stainless-steel case with vibrant yellow hands and indices, and makes a complex account of all the leap years in the Gregorian calendar until 2100. The crown on the watch’s right side can adjust all displays and advances automatically. A black leather alligator skin strap with corresponding stainless-steel clasps makes a statement against the sapphire, convex, antireflective-coated glass in which it so delicately holds.
Inside is one of IWC’s largest automatic movements, the 51614 caliber, complementing an efficient Pellaton winding system. It is one of the most elaborate Pilots watches ever crafted by IWC, this timepiece is classically indicative of the expression, “The sky’s the limit,” and in timeless style at that.
