This week J Mendel unveiled a new boutique on Madison Avenue and debuted Gilles Mendel by Enoc Perez, a collaboration between artist Enoc Perez and J Mendel designer Gilles Mendel. Monday night’s celebration drew the likes of Chanel Iman and Ivanka Trump.
Gilles Mendel by Enoc Perez is a book containing 48 stunning collages by Perez extracted from photographs he took of Mendel’s world after developing a friendship last year. The photographs chronicle the studio, fittings, sketches, runway shots, and scraps of fabric that cohesively form a visual portrait of Mendel, as well as highlight Perez’s artistry. An excerpt of a conversation between the creative pals in the book’s introduction will be in Whitewall’s winter 2014 Luxury Issue, out next month.
