Clad in a slim fitting black tuxedo jacket, crisp white shirt, and skinny silk black tie, designer Jason Wu thanked his parents and the Asia Society for holding him in top honor at their 5th Annual Celebration Gala on Monday, May 18.
Amidst the deep fuschia and purple decor of The Pierre Grand Ballroom, guests such as Charles Rockefeller, Betsey and Edward Cohen, Lulu and Art Wang, Cynthia Rowley and Bill Powers, Jessica Tam, and Anna Sui among others, enjoyed cocktails followed by a dinner inspired for the occasion by chefs Pichet Ong and Simpson Wong.
Sotheby’s North American Vice Chairman, Henry Howard Sneyd, led an auction offering such luxuries as travel and unique experiences, as well as a custom suit made exclusively by Ermenegildo Zegna.
Photographer Bill Cunningham, complete in black-tie (what a rarity!), was in attendance to capture the fashionable evening, while Asia Society’s Museum Director, Melissa Chiu, helped lead the course of the gala.
Asia Society’s gala is part of larger Asia Week in New York (through March 23) that brings together leading Asian and American designers, collectors, and art enthusiasts alike.
