On April 19, Lamborghini will auction the last Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimate Coupe ever produced, accompanied by an exclusive NFT. In collaboration with the digital content story studio, INVNT GROUP, as well as the contemporary artists Steve Aoki and Krista Kim, this drop marks the world’s first-ever automobile NFT to be auctioned with a physical super sports car, plunging the Italian marque into the virtual reality of the Metaverse. The collector of this NFT will be given access to VIP utilities, including virtual previews of future limited edition Lamborghini models, a private tour of the Museo Lamborghini, and a virtual “Meet & Greet” with the artists themselves, Steve Aoki and Krista Kim.
This historic NFT bonds the intersection of three forms of art: design, music, and technology. The NFT will feature Kim’s signature artistic style in reference to her Mars House, the first-ever digital home to be sold, and her work shifting color gradients. Kim is well-known for being the founder of the Techism Movement, a philosophy that distinguishes the artist’s role in modern technological innovation. Her gradients, which date back to 2012 with her works on glass and plexiglass, will appear in the bespoke customization of the physical Lamborghini Aventador as well, offering a sleek and fluid visual. he NFT will blend the physical world with music with an exclusive soulful and meditative soundtrack provided by Aoki.
“This Aventador is a legend, it is the first physical-digital supercar! When higher states of consciousness meet leading-edge technology & design, we see elevated beauty on another level. In my Lamborghini NFT dream, I envision meditating in front of a sublime Mars sunset with Steve, as he transforms the engine sound into a meditative vibe. I couldn’t be more excited to bring this vision to life in the physical car & NFT,” said Kim.
This historical automobile auction arrives with Lamborghini’s plan to electrify its complete line-up in 2023 and 2024. While the Aventador’s production is nearing its end, making this drop the last of its kind, Lamborghini’s top models will transition to V12 powered plug-in hybrids. Chairman and CEO of Automobile Lamborghini said he believes the company and the NFT community share many of the same values concerning technological innovation. The industrial-style and dark-lit teaser film features the Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimate Coupe racing off-screen with the sound of a revving engine echoing into the background music, perhaps a metaphor for the company’s impending transition to the digital realm of the Metaverse.
