10 March 2023

In a vivacious celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day this week, we’re shining light on women-led brands, products, and initiatives from names like Leica, LAPOINTE, Casa Dragones, and more.

Looking to inspire joyful movement in your favorite real-life heroine? We recommend the delightful footwear of Sadi Studios. Created with love by the designer Sarah Ahn Ianni and developer Dominic Ianni, the brand offers luxurious quality and whimsical artistry, all while mastering inclusivity—sizes range from US Women’s 5-16. Sleek hot pink mules, sculptural neon green lace-up platforms, and baby blue criss-cross sandals are guaranteed enchantment.

For the mademoiselle on the go, the Misahara x Jeffrey Levinson convertible clutch takes form and function to dazzling new proportions. The innovative collaboration fuses Levinson’s iconic Finley Clutch with soulful jewelry designer Lepa Galeb-Roskopp’s trademark chain. The fashion-forward handbag introduces a detachable 14k gold strap that transforms into a chic necklace at a moment’s notice. Ladies may personalize their clutch with an array of gemstones, chain lengths, enamels, and compelling finishes such as precious metals, glosses, and translucent fine-leaf shades. Inspired by a love of luxury vehicles like Ferrari and Jaguar, this clutch will carry you away to your next adventure.

Why not gather your darlings for a glowing happy hour, and raise a glass to female-distilled whiskey? Celina Perez, Head Distiller at Great Jones Distilling Company, relishes in spirit production, overseeing the fermentation and distillation of her crowning product. From humble beginnings, Perez now proudly runs a 6,000-gallon fermentation distillery in the middle of New York City. Having received prestigious awards from the American Distilling Institute, in addition to the honor of speaking at their principal conference in 2013, Perez infuses passion and finesse into every level of her craft.

Ancient Greek Sandals x Lean In

Calling all goddesses, step into your day with love and light from within the luxury and protection of Ancient Greek Sandals. Co-founded by Christina Martini, the chemical-free, natural leather creations are an ode to mother nature herself, embracing organic forms and lively feminine designs. Every exquisite pair ages as beautifully and wisely as the woman who chooses to wear them. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the forward-thinking brand will be donating all sales from March 8 to Lean In, an extraordinary organization championing women in equitable workplaces, public policy, and career mentorship. The latest SS23 collection offers a thrilling array of sensuous looks; a fresh take on the signature Elafonisos style offers a delicate toe ring and straps that ebb and flow like hypnotic dunes—we were mesmerized by the sandal in sparkling Tropical Sunset.

Keep your eyes on the prize and your tresses polished with the marvelous headbands of designer Lele Sadoughi. Beguiling iterations such as the Clover Green Crystal Shamrock Knotted style will have you feeling charmed well before St. Patrick’s Day. Launching the 3rd annual Headband Design Contest this month, Sadoughi eagerly encourages creative women everywhere to help design fresh takes on the ever-chic accessory. The female-run and founded organization will donate 10% of all proceeds from the winning creation to Save the Children, the exemplary humanitarian aid foundation supporting women and children during the ongoing war in Ukraine and in the wake of environmental catastrophes in Turkey and Syria.

Leica Camera rejoiced in the nuanced, female perspective upon announcing the four winners of the sweeping 4th annual Leica Women Foto Project Award. In union with Women Photograph and Photoville, as well as the support of distinguished judges such as Natalia Jimenez, Senior Picture Editor at The Washington Post, Whitney Matewe, Photo Editor of Time Magazine, and Elizabth Krist, Former Senior Photo Editor at National Geographic,  Leica Camera gifted each awardee a bevy of special prizes—notably the much-esteemed Leica SL2-S camera. Winners Anna Filipova (UK), Eli Farinango (Canada), Greta Rico (Mexico), and Mary F. Calvert (US), documented poetic imagery of social justice, family history, science, and environmental issues. “With the fourth iteration of the Leica Women Foto Project Award expanding to new territories, we underscore our commitment to the narratives shaped by multicultural perspectives while bearing witness to the moments that impact how we see and interact with our world,” stated Kiran Karnani, VP of Marketing for Leica Camera USA. “We hope that this expansion allows for even more dynamic and nuanced storytelling through the female gaze.”

Harmonious and lingering, González Nieves sets free the butterfly in each of us.
