Kiki Smith was presented with the Longhouse Award at the Longhouse Reserve’s 2015 summer benefit, “On Gossamer Wings” on Saturday, July 18. Guests, which included Dr. Andre Goy and Jeffrey Ornstein, Amy and Ronald Guttman, Kiki Spensieri and Scott Kilgour, Elizabeth and Mark Levine, Steve Miller, Alexandra Munroe, Sandy and Stephen Perlbinder, dined outside on lobsters and short ribs. The sound of Cole Porter music rang in the air as singer Jenni Muldaur and pianist Jonathan Sheffer performed. John Houshmand and his art band Soundwall also performed with self-styled instruments. Not short of entertainment, the Brooklyn Peaches, a group of synchronized swimmers, danced in garments designed by Nicole Miller and Mary Jane Marcasiano that included artwork by Kiki Smith herself. The honoree also auctioned off two original bronzes. Overall, the event raised over half a million dollars for the organization. The non-profit currently holds over 15 acres in East Hampton that display over 60 sculptures within their gardens.
