Peggy Guggenheim Collection and The Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni: Lorraine Gobin’s Venice

By Whitewaller

May 7, 2019

All this week in preparation for the 2019 Biennale Arte, we’re hearing from leading design, art, culture, and lifestyle experts on how they enjoy Venice.

“I am very happy to be back in Venice for our first participation in the Biennale. Rubis Mécénat cultural fund supports Malagasy artist Joël Andrianomearisoa for the Madagascar Pavilion. This support takes place in the context of Rubis Mécénat’s new socio-cultural project initiated in Madagascar. What I like the most about Venice is its hidden churches you bump into while wandering along the canals. Inside they are filled with marvels and treasures with stories that brings you back to the Renaissance era. The Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni, is, for me, one of the most beautiful churches in Venice, where you find the paintings commissioned to Carpaccio. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is a place of peace where you lose track of time surrounded by historical pieces of modern art. I always want to take some time and sit on the terrace facing the Grand Canal next to the Marino Marini sculpture and watch the boats passing by.”
