Yesterday, Los Angeles’ non-profit arts organization Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND) celebrated five years of public, site-specific exhibitions with a gala in Miami. The event honored “Innovative Women in Arts and Culture” at the iconic art deco hotel the Oasis at The Raleigh, and was hosted by LAND’s director and curator Shamim M. Momin.
Anniversaries are a time to reflect on the past and plan for the future, and with that in mind, LAND teamed up with Paddle8 for a live and silent auction to fund future public programming. Over 300 guests from the art, fashion, technology and entertainment worlds came together to bid on 18 works, 10 of which were specially created for the gala. Together, they raised over $200,000 for the organization. Momin said of the evening, “I am humbled and tremendously grateful to all those who attended to celebrate LAND’s first 5 years with us. Celebrating our accomplishments with the artists and supporters so critical in making these years happen was incredibly rewarding, and we couldn’t have asked for a lovelier time had by all.”
