An Innovative Take on an Icon
It has been 21 years since Louis Vuitton launched its Tambour watch, a timepiece that’s now well-known in the horology industry. Today, it celebrates a new milestone by unveiling a new unisex iteration in two styles—a slim, steel treasure offered in a dial of either silver-gray or deep blue, with a luxe finish and contemporary fluidity. Embracing both the maison’s regal heritage and its cutting-edge craftsmanship, the pieces are freshly embellished with an integrated bracelet and automatic movement by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
“After twenty years of audacious watchmaking design based on the renowned Tambour shape, and with the same quest for modernity, elegance and functionality that the maison has been built on for more than 160 years, Louis Vuitton elevates its watch offer with an unprecedented level of sophistication, on each and every element of the new watch”, said Louis Vuitton’s Watch Director, Jean Arnault. “With this launch, we seek to open a new chapter in the history of the Maison’s watchmaking by creating a watch with strong horological credentials while identifiably Louis Vuitton in style.”
Rich Heritage Joins the Art of Fluidity
Both exceptional options preserve the poetic, circular case, as well as the brand’s elegant lettering showcased front and center. Creative and holistic design innovation flows through the arched case back and the curving links for day-to-night wearability. Brushed finishes from crown to links make for a sensuous experience, elevated by the raised and sculptural “LOUIS VUITTON PARIS” and “FAB. EN SUISSE” imprints—both nods to the maison’s French roots as well as its Geneva-based watchmaking atelier, guided by expert craftsmen Enrico Barbasini and Michel Navas.
Exquisite Materials and Motifs
Beneath a sweeping dial of sheer sapphire crystal, indexes in gold are diamond polished, which dance like shooting stars around tapered hands and numerals glowing with Super-LumiNova. In collaboration with movement aficionados Le Cercle des Horlogers, the new Tambour boasts automatic three-hand movement and a barrel cover with mesmerizing openwork that illuminates a monogram flower motif and a micro-rotor in high-inertia 22k gold. The latest edition of the Tambour ushers in a cultivated new era of Louis Vuitton’s enduring “Art of Travel” mantra, embracing the journey ahead—dynamic, gentle, and infinite.
