The online plateform Amuse, from i-D Magazine, launched its residencies series in New York, bringing fresh content and inspiration relating to the city. The inaugural festivities took place last Thursday night at SIXTY hotel. The rooftop bar, Tiki Tabu, saw DJ Mia Moretti play a set shortly after thr VIP screening by the pool of TAKE THREE, a romantic drama commissioned by SIXTY, set in the hotel’s premises.
The 4 minute film is made of an assemblage of short takes, leading with a girl (played by Allison Lanier) waking up in a hotel room only to find that her flight got cancelled. From there she envisions three possible case scenarios of what to do during her unexpected additional day in New York: take one, take two, and take three respectively. The soundtrack supervised by Anita Nedeljkovic, mixes superbly dreamy music (evoking the imaginative escapes provided by the takes) and ambient sounds of the hotel (marking subtle returns to the reality of the present).
Following the screening, the evening revels quickly progressed into the night as Mia Moretti, Virgil Abloh and London-based creative collective No Vacancy Inn, took over the music. Guests included Theophilus London who did a surprise performance, models Jason Santore, Paloma Elsesser, Naomi Shimada, John Tuite, Emily Rappe, Matthew Foley, Roze Traore, and R&B artists NADER, Liana Bank$, and Gabrielle Ross.
