Award-winning jewelry designer Monique Péan launched her latest collection, Solcin, inspired by her travels through Utah. With earth tones, natural materials, and geometric shapes, Solcin reflects the beauty of the state’s landscape.
The collection takes its name from the sunlight and the city of Lucin, which is the site of Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels. “It’s incredible that Nancy Holt has been able to create an interactive work of land art that allows the viewer to frame the dynamic harmony of the sun and the earth from many perspectives, while remaining part of it,” said Péan.
Known for her environmentally-conscious fine jewelry, Péan exclusively used sustainable materials, that were locally-sourced including fossilized dinosaur bone and septarian stones. Highlights of the collection are pieces that were inspired by the many arch formations found in Utah’s national parks. These pieces feature the layering and suspension of conflict-free diamonds and gemstones within 18-carat recycled gold to reflect the architecture of these natural wonders.
