Monsieur Bleu, Palais de Tokyo, and Musée de la Monnaie de Paris: Joseph Dirand’s Paris

In advance of FIAC 2017, opening next week (October 19-22), we’re sharing architect Joseph Dirand’s insider tips on where to eat, sip, see art, have fun, and relax during the festive week. And for more on this year’s edition of FIAC and the surrounding fairs, exhibitions, events, and happenings, check out Whitewaller London & Paris 2017, out now in Paris.

WHERE TO EAT AND SIP
Monsieur Bleu in Palais de Tokyo, Loulou in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and Flandrin, where I feel at home and I love to see people enjoying their time. I often go to the Japanese restaurant Takara for its traditional decor and delicate traditional dishes like the shabu shabu. I rush to the tiny and delicious Cibus Italian restaurant on rue Molière during the white truffle period.

WHERE TO SEE ART
I personally love going to the Picasso Museum and the Rodin Museum, where masterpieces dialogue with the classic architecture of these two beautiful hôtels particuliers. I love the exhibitions at the Musée de la Monnaie de Paris and the Palais de Tokyo. I always go to see the great shows at Gagosian on rue de Ponthieu. For design, I often walk around galleries in rue de Lille and rue de Seine, where you can find lots of great galleries (Jousse, Downtown, Jacques Lacoste, and Matthieu Richard, just to name a few of my favorites). Make a stop at the 7L bookshop, rue de Lille, to buy great art books. During FIAC on October 18, I will be presenting at Artcurial a selection of my furniture collection in connection with the launch of my first book published by Rizzoli.
