Diamonds, diamonds, and more diamonds, seemed to a rich and radiant theme at Baselworld this year.
Breguet delectably defied the “less is more” suggestion, and amazed watch lovers with their Haute Joaillerie Crazy Flower Full Baguette timepiece. Mimicking flower petals, there are 193 baguette diamonds that make up the watch’s entirety, weighing out to a whopping 58.87 carats. In a decadent mobile setting, the Crazy Flower Full Baguette is seen shining in white gold, ready to sparkle and stun.
Chopard followed suit with another diamonds-only design in their line of Haute Joaillerie with L’Heure du Diamant. Set in white gold, 21 carats of brilliant-cut diamonds appear surrounding a silvered guilloche dial. Its crown is set with briolette-cut diamonds, its indexes are set with even more diamonds, and as subtly and delicately as possible, a quartz movement complements the dazzling appearance.
Dewitt debuted an astonishing, royal piece, as a direct tribute to Count Jérôme de Witt’s mother, Princess Marie-Clotilde Napoléon. 405 baguette-cut diamonds, totaling to about 13 carats, are seen in a near suspension-like setting. All imperial columns in its 36-mm diameter frame glisten with exceptional quality, as the internal workings are equipped with a 42-hour power reserve. The open-worked hours hand, sculpted in the shape of a heart, is offset by the minute hand, in the form of a double-edged sword. The timepiece’s crown and buckle is crafted in white gold and enhanced by a deep red alligator skin wristband.
Graff’s newest showstopper, The Fascination, is truly a fascination indeed. A shocking 152.96 carats of the finest white diamonds surround an interchangeable face that can encompass a prized, solid 38.13-carat diamond, or an elegant diamond watch face. “The Fascination is truly unique and joins our roll call of important jewels, which are among the rarest and most sough after stones ever uncovered. It is a true celebration of our diamond mastery,” said Founder and Chairman of Graff Diamonds, Laurence Graff.
