Mother’s Day: Julia Restoin Roitfeld on The Cools

By Whitewall

May 7, 2014

With Mother’s Day this Sunday, there is still time to find some last minute gifts for the chic, savvy, moms in your life. And one of our new favorite sites, The Cools, has a pretty fantastic gift guide. The Cools is an online social marketplace where you can buy, sell, discover, and share your favorite products. Founder Olivier Van Themsche describes it as, “more of a magazine, a mix of products and content that you can tailor yourself based on the profiles that you follow.”

There’s curated editorial content on the site, as well, like Julia Restoin Roitfeld‘s personal picks from the Mother’s Day Gift Guide. An excerpt of her interview with The Cools is below. To read the entire conversation and to see what she’d like to get for the mothers in her life, go HERE. Happy Mother’s Day!

Mom’s The Word: Julia Restoin Roitfeld

This year, we’re celebrating Mother’s Day with a little series, Mom’s the Word, in which we ask friends of The Cools about their moms and their gift picks. First up is Julia Restoin Roitfeld, the stylish art/creative director and founder of Romy and the Bunnies, a site dedicated to new and expectant mommies. The mother of precious two-year-old Romy, Julia has a chic maman of her own: the iconic French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, who helmed Vogue Paris for a decade and now runs style bible CR Fashion Book. Below, we asked Julia a few questions and found out what’s on her wish list from The Cools this Mother’s Day.

What’s one thing your mama always taught you?
To never forget where I come from and the people who helped me get to where I am now.

What’s one of the most amazing things your mom has ever done for you?
She showed me that it’s possible to have a career and be a hands-on mom. She went completely against the idea that a woman has to wait to start a family if she wants to be successful. My mother had her children very young, and she managed to build her career while never missing a school recital or any other activity. I thank her for showing me it is possible to do it all!
