Natuzzi Creates Surgical Masks in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

By whitewall

April 30, 2020

Design brand Natuzzi has announced the commitment of its plant in Ginosa, Italy to manufacturing medical masks in efforts to aid the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in the country. Using a special composite filtering material, the masks have the ability to filter 99.7% of pathogens, making them helpful for both the general public and healthcare workers.

In order to comply with regulations set by the Italy’s National Health Institute, the brand spent nearly three weeks converting an entire production line in its leather workshop (originally used for cutting and sewing upholstery coverings) into stations for cutting and sewing the certified surgical masks. Updating the space for the safety of the craftspeople working in production, the brand has also put into place a special machine for sanitizing the masks before distribution.

“We have promptly responded to the call launched by the Apulia Region task-force on coronavirus, supporting such an important cause with our know-how and our production abilities,” said Pasquale Junior Natuzzi, Natuzzi’s Chief Creative and Marketing Officer. “Our land has given us so much and inspires us every day, so it is almost a duty to give back.”
