On Friday, February 8, fashion luminaries, art enthusiasts, and celebrities gathered at NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale for the “Bellissima Gala,” honoring the 30th anniversary of the museum’s modernist building and the opening of the exhibition “Bellissima: Italy and High Fashion 1945-1968.”
The black-tie event, presented by Bulgari, celebrated the work of American architect Edward Larrabee Barnes and the U.S. premiere of the Italian exhibition. Featuring more than 230 designer garments and jewels, the exhibition, curated by Maria Luisa Frisa, Anna Mattirolo, and W magazine editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi, explores the evolution of Italian couture fashion following Word War II.
Host of the evening NSU chief curator Bonnie Clearwater welcomed a distinguished group of guests that included Jean-Christophe Babin, Daniel Paltridge, Lucia Boscaini, Gloria Marina Bellelli, Jane Holzer, and Beth Rudin DeWoody.
The proceeds from the gala were raised towards NSU exhibitions and educational programs.
The exhibition is currently on display at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale through June 5, 2016.
