Last week, The New York Botanical Garden held its annual Orchid Dinner. The gala, a fundraiser for the Garden’s orchid research collection, was nothing short of extravagant. Hosted at The Plaza, the event was chaired by Vera Aryeh and Bob Gossett, Sharon and Bill Jacob, and Susan and George Matelich, and several others.
At the start of the evening, NYBG’s CEO Gregory Long was joined by guests like Kevin Sharkey, Jennifer Nolen, Nell Diamond, and many more could be seen sipping cocktails as they shopped an extraordinary collection of rare orchids with the aid of some of the world’s leading orchid specialists. The Garden, a National Historic Landmark has been a designated Plant Rescue Center since 1990, and has been in the business of reviving illegally collected orchids ever since.
As one could expect, lavish orchid table centerpieces greeted guests as they entered the ballroom. Each unique masterpiece was designed and donated for the event by some of New York’s most esteemed designers, including CeCe Barfield Inc., Brittany Bromley Interiors, Wesley Moon, MR Architecture + Decor, and many more.
The team of designers was put together by VERANDA, one of the trio of underwriters for the gala. LOUIS VIII COGNAC and Hearst also sponsored the event. The night’s festivities were concluded with dinner and dancing in The Grand Ballroom.
