On Wednesday night, the Whitney Museum of American Art celebrated its final Gala and Studio Party to be held in the historic Breuer building before the museum moves to its new location downtown, which is set to open on May 1, 2015. The annual event was hosted by Louis Vuitton and featured a surprise performance by Elvis Costello. The night hosted an array of artists, gallerists, curators, fashion designers, television personalities, and more including Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Glenn Ligon, Cindy Sherman, Kara Walker, Andrea Rosen, Mary Boone, Gavin Brown, Thelma Golden, Wes Gordon, Nigel Barker, Padma Lakshmi, among others. Guests gathered to dine, dance, and honor the 98 living artists who have had surveys at the Breuer building.
