To commemorate ten years of collaborative efforts, the independent Swiss watch manufacturer Parmigiani Fleurier and Molsheim-based car firm Bugatti are releasing three Bugatti inspired timepieces. Making up this Anniversary, limited-edition collection are the Bugatti Mythe, the Bugatti Victoire, and the Bugatti Revelation—all of which are based on the Bugatti type 370 model.
Created in 2004, the Bugatti type 370 was “a car reborn as a watch;” fusing the engine design of the Bugatti Veyron with the time keeping function of a watch. Assembling the plates and gears along a horizontal rather than vertical axis caused the configuration of the watch face to display the time laterally on the wrist; a concept never previously conceived in watch making. Inspired by this first collaborative design, the three timepieces pay homage to traditional Haute Horlogerie techniques of watch making and embody the original Bugatti 370’s transverse tubular movements and sleek lines.
Marrying industry and craftsmanship, the Bugatti Mythe’s watch-face is inspired by the Art Deco style Type 57 grille. The watch dial mimics the lines of the grille that graced some of the very first Bugatti models, while the dual-tone choices of gold and grey highlight the refined details incorporated into Bugatti’s industrial designs.
The Mythe debuted at Pebble Beach’s Concours d’Elegance, while the Victoire and Revelation will be released later this year.
