Earlier this week, Sotheby’s in New York hosted the annual Artists for Artists gala for the benefit of the New York Academy of Art (NYAA), held with co-chairs including KAWS and Julia Chiang, Fabiola Beracasa and Jason Beckman, Gordon VeneKlasen, and Amalia Dayan and Adam Lindemann. The first in-person iteration of the event in more than two years, members of the art community joined together once again for an evening that honored the renowned artist Peter Saul, in addition to raising over 800 thousand dollars for the academy’s scholarships and other programming.

Presented with support from the auction house, Cadogan Tate Fine Art, and Sant Ambroeus, the night began with a live and silent auction of works by more than 180 artists. Contributions came from names like Will Cotton, Tracey Emin, Raymond Pettibon, and Lee Quiñones. The sale also featured an artwork by the evening’s honoree, Saul, the sale of which went to a scholarship in his name.
After the auction came to a close, guests like Academy President David Kratz, Brooke Shields, Huma Bhabha, Izabela Depcyzk, Futura, Elliott Puckette,and Carroll Dunham were seated to enjoy a sumptuous meal provided by Sant Ambroeus. The evening was complete with provisions by names like Tequila Enemigo, ASM Whiskey, and Grey Whale Gin.
